INZ Covid Updates – what is current

It is very important to remember, that you must always hold a valid visa, to stay lawfully in New Zealand. You are also responsible, for understanding how to meet the conditions of your visa, at all times. 

What visa do you hold?

Essential skills work visa

  • If you were in New Zealand and your visa expired between 2 April and 9 July 2020, your visa was automatically extended to 25 September 2020.
  • If you were in New Zealand on 10 July and your essential skills work visa was to expire before 31 December 2020, your visa may have been automatically extended for 6 months.
  • You should have received emails to confirm both of these extensions.

Partnership and dependent child(ren) visas

  • If you were in New Zealand and your visa expired between 2 April and 9 July 2020, your visa was automatically extended to 25 September 2020.
  • If you were in New Zealand and held a partnership or dependent child visa, where the main visa holder held an employer-assisted visa, your visa may have been automatically extended, to align with the new expiry date of the main visa holder.
  • You should have received emails to confirm both of the above extensions

Visitor visa

  • If you were in New Zealand and your visa expired between 2 April and 9 July 2020, your visa was automatically extended to 25 September 2020.
  • If you were in New Zealand and held a visitor visa, due to expire between 4 September and the end of October 2020, your visitor has been extended by 5 months from the expiry date of your visa.
  • You should have received emails to confirm both of the above extensions
